Internationally known jazz/rock guitarist Steve Freeman announces the release of his debut album titled Surfside. This CD features 8 of Freeman’s compositions that reflect his broad ranging musical talent as a respected guitarist and composer.

Surfside will take the listener on a compelling journey through a fusion of blues, jazz, rock and funk at it’s best.  Freeman’s bluesy guitar bends, driving guitar tones, prolific melodies and flowing improvised lines are what is expected from this former Musicians Institute faculty instructor.

One reviewer writes: “Steve’s music combines the sophistication of jazz harmony, the energy of rock n roll and the raw emotion of the blues “

Some of the compositions reflect Steve’s sense of humor with titles like “Mouthbreather, Ol’ Factory Nightmare, Attack of the Flannel People and 2 Stupid Dogs. On a more serious note there are several other compositions titled and dedicated to important people in Steve’s life.

Steve’s core rhythm section is comprised of Atlanta based musicians, Jack Jones on drums, Keith White on bass and Allen Cook on Keys. Special guest artists include powerhouse saxman Bryan Lopes who has played and recorded with Chick Corea, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Stone Temple Pilots and Don Henley to name a few. Other appearances include keyboard guru Dr. Dan Matrazzo, formerly of Col. Bruce Hampton, Gatemouth Brown and the Fiji Mariners.  Karl Liberatore, trumpet master with Anthony Papamichael and the League of Decency joins Lopes on Ol’Factory Nightmare and Fatster.

Mixed and mastered by Kamaal Malaak former bassist with the band Arrested Development, Surfside is a must have for your collection and is available for download on iTunes and  CD’s can be ordered directly on this site.
